A Crowd Favorite Inside the Southern Living Idea House
A Crowd Favorite Inside the Southern Living Idea House
January 1, 2019
With a headline that reads, “THE BEST IDEA HOUSE EVER” on the cover of this month’s Southern Living magazine that features Riverside Custom Homes’ Southern Living Idea House in a 28-page spread, the Riverside Homes team is elated with the response to this one-of-a-kind dream home. As readers scour the pages for design inspiration, learning more about what makes Riverside Custom Homes a unique custom home builder, it’s evident through the pictures, bi-lines and article that our attention to detail and countless hours on this project proved to be very successful. The Southern Living Idea House built on Crane Island in Amelia Island is perfectly described as, “a grand, new-old home…with inspiration around every corner.”
Southern Living magazine subscribers have raved about the home on social media detailing their favorite rooms pictured in the editorial spread. From the wide-open entry and hallway that welcomes you into the home and the expansive living room with a multi-million dollar view of the Intracoastal – these two seem to be among the favorite rooms for Southern Living readers. Influencers who toured the home are highlighting their favorite elements as well on Instagram and their personal blogs. Many are gushing over the master bathroom and the unique shower, the laundry room with a spectacular view and upstairs gathering room that is a perfect space for all-age entertaining.
We wanted to provide you with a unique opinion of the house, perhaps a more authentic perspective since it comes from nearly 1,500 people surveyed after they toured our Southern Living Idea House:
“I never imagined new home construction could feel so timeless and incorporate so much character.”
“Just when you think you’ve seen the most incredible part of the house you move into the next room and once again you’re completely stunned.”
“Riverside Custom Homes built a masterpiece. The home, from corner to corner, is a true work of art and so ideally designed and built to suit today’s homebuyer looking for this type of custom home.”
What the magazine article can’t completely articulate is the feeling you get when you walk through each room. Whether it’s the impeccable selection of wallpaper, upholstery and finishes chosen by designer Heather Chadduck that transport you back in time or the sights and sounds of the water and the pristine location of the Southern Living Idea House – it’s the emotion this home pulls that can only be understood by someone who tours the home.
Responses from 1,479 tour-goers when asked “What was their favorite part of the house?” varied from the upstairs bunk room with four custom built-in bunk beds to the kitchen complete with its own secret pantry that appears as custom cabinetry and several other rooms around the house. However, the largest percentage belongs to the porches encompassing more than 1,400 square feet of the home located on both the first and second stories. We can’t say we’re surprised. The unique design of the porch space offers a variety of ways to utilize these areas. Whether you’re entertaining in a casual outdoor living room setting, enjoying waterfront dining, getting toasty by the outdoor fireplace or taking a nap in the plenty-large swinging bed upstairs there are so many ways to enjoy life on the Intracoastal outside this home.
Of course, we would encourage everybody to tour the Southern Living Idea House built by Riverside Custom Homes to experience every design detail and its timelessness. But for those who are unable to, each page of the Southern Living feature shares highlights of this spectacular home.
The home is open Wednesday through Saturday from 10am – 4pm and Sunday from 1pm to 4pm through December 15th. Admission is $22 with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the Amelia Island Museum of History. Tickets can be purchased at www.craneisland.com
