Beyond the Blueprints: Riverside Homes Continues Its Legacy of Giving by Receiving 'Companies with Heart' Honor for the Fourth Consecutive Year

February 23, 2024

We are thrilled to announce that Riverside Homes has been recognized once again as a 'Company with Heart' by Jacksonville Magazine, marking our fourth consecutive year receiving this esteemed accolade. This yearly recognition is granted to businesses on the First Coast that aim for financial success and embody the ethos of giving back to the community. We stand proud among the select two dozen local businesses honored as 'Companies with Heart' for our substantial contributions to the greater good through philanthropy, volunteering, and environmental efforts. Receiving this honor not only reaffirms our commitment to building exceptional homes but also highlights our unwavering dedication to making a positive impact in the communities we serve.

This month, Riverside Homes' Online Sales and Marketing Director, Andrea Johnson, along with other Riverside Homes team members, attended the award luncheon at WJCT Studios. Notably, Riverside Homes co-owner, Matt Roberts, was highlighted among the list of "People With Heart,"  in a featured article published in Jacksonville Magazine’s January/February 2024 issue, making the event even more meaningful.

Matt's exemplary work within Rethreaded, combined with his personal dedication to serving others, further exemplify his worthiness of this recognition. Matt and his wife Robyn were recently featured on Rethreaded's Rethreading Lives podcast. Matt's influence extends far beyond the realm of home construction, making him a prominent figure in both the business and philanthropic community.

Since 2019, Riverside Homes has supported Rethreaded by donating $30,000 annually as a matching gift for their birthday fundraising celebration. This year, Matt Roberts surprised the Rethreaded team during the event by increasing the matching donation from $30,000 to $40,000! Inspired by Rethreaded’s mission to renew hope, reignite dreams and release potential for survivors of human trafficking locally and globally through business, Riverside Homes is honored to be a part of helping women sew a new story. Through his involvement in Rethreaded's Band of Brothers Advisory Board, Chris Wood has become a strong advocate for human trafficking victims and in recent years has focused company efforts to support this worthwhile cause that changes lives.

“One of our favorite partners is Riverside Homes. They are an amazing advocate for us and have enabled us to do more than we could have imagined to help survivors,” shared Kristin Keen, Rethreaded Founder and President.

A Legacy of Heartfelt Building

At Riverside Homes, we believe that building homes extends beyond bricks and mortar; it is about creating spaces where families thrive and communities flourish. The philosophy of “Building with Heart” is the foundation on which Riverside Homes was established. In addition to striving to provide exceptional customer service and high-quality home designs, Riverside Homes measures its success based on the positive impacts its corporate social responsibility efforts make on those in need.

Beyond the Blueprints

What sets Riverside Homes apart is our belief that every home should reflect the dreams and aspirations of those who dwell within. We take pride in not just constructing houses but in crafting homes that resonate with the heartbeat of the community. This acknowledgment from Jacksonville Magazine reinforces that our approach to homebuilding goes beyond the blueprints.

Impacting Lives, One Home at a Time

Receiving the 'Companies with Heart' recognition inspires us to continue making a positive impact in the lives of our homeowners and the community. From supporting local initiatives to fostering a sense of belonging, Riverside Homes is committed to being a catalyst for positive change.

Guided by the unwavering leadership of owners Matt Roberts and Chris Wood, our company's unique approach to service is not merely a professional duty but a profound personal calling. Our team members extend beyond the roles of sales, design, and construction management. They epitomize Riverside Homes' mission to be greater than the homes built by personally touching others in the community in a positive way, leaving a meaningful and lasting impact.

Riverside Homes’ true impact comes through actively supporting and partnering with a handful of local organizations. As a team and as individuals, we donate generously both monetarily and with volunteer hours to a wide variety of causes, including: Builders Care, Rethreaded, The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS), The Healing Hearts Project, Hunger Fight, Best Buddies, Down Syndrome Association of Jacksonville, The Will King Foundation, Davidson Cares, and Early Learning Coalition of North Florida.

Riverside Homes is proud to build this year’s “Home from the Heart” to raise money for Builders Care. As a non-profit and charitable arm of the Northeast Florida Builders Association (NEFBA), Builders Care provides cost-effective construction to the elderly, the disabled and other nonprofits throughout the First Coast. Upon the sale of the home, all proceeds will be channeled as a direct donation to Builders Care. This serves as a profoundly significant fundraiser for the organization, contributing a substantial portion to their annual budget.

In addition, Riverside Homes has proudly sponsored the Down Syndrome Association of Jacksonville’s Buddy Walk each year. With two employees having children with Down syndrome, the company understands the importance of advocating for its work family by championing organizations that are near and dear to its team members’ hearts. The Riverside Homes team is committed to helping those with Down syndrome, our community, and employees.

November 2023 also marked the company’s tenth consecutive year participating in Hunger Fight’s Annual Thanksgiving Community Outreach Event. Realizing a growing increase in those faced with food insecurity, Riverside Homes is proud to bolster Hunger Fight’s dedication to ending hunger and illiteracy through the provision of nutritious meals and books to children, seniors, and families in need by informing, engaging, and mobilizing communities and partners.

In addition to their philanthropic and volunteer efforts, Riverside Homes is committed to providing environmentally friendly new homes that use less energy and deliver improved comfort. That is why each Riverside Home receives a HERS home energy rating, an in-depth, comprehensive assessment of a home’s energy performance. Developed by the Residential Energy Services Network (RESNET), the Home Energy Rating System (HERS) Index is the nationally recognized system for inspecting and calculating a home’s energy performance. It is the industry’s gold standard for measuring a home’s energy efficiency. Every Riverside Home, no matter the plan or price, is constructed with advanced building practices and energy-efficient, high-performance features. These energy efficient products used in the construction process result in a Riverside Home with a low HERS rating. Riverside Homes is dedicated to ensure that each of their new homes fall below the average yearly HERS Index Score.
